What does the Work Environment Act say?
A safety representative at a workplace is a person appointed to represent both regular and temporary staff in work environment issues. A safety representative is usually appointed by a local workers' organisation which is or is usually bound by a collective agreement in relation to the employer. In the absence of such an organisation at the workplace, the safety representative may be elected directly by the workers. According to the Working Environment Act, safety representatives must be appointed at all workplaces with 5 or more employees. The employer must be informed of the person appointed as safety representative. He or she has the right to training and leave to the extent necessary for the job, with pay.
Even large companies that have worked for a long time to ensure a good working environment can face challenges in dealing with problems and challenges in their daily work
Regardless of the size of the organisation and also how proactive you are in your work environment management, there will always be challenges. Ensuring a good working environment in the long term often requires skills, tools, methods and solutions. Good working conditions and a good working environment benefit everyone and are something that everyone in the workplace must contribute to achieving.
This can involve creating order and procedures, agreeing on the rules and giving everyone a say, examining working conditions, assessing risks, taking action and following up on health and safety management. This course will give you good knowledge to prepare you for your day-to-day work. You can feel confident after this course that you have the tools you need to create the right procedures, assess risks and take the right action.
