Training for EL Authorization B - Become an Authorized Electrical Installer in Sweden

Requirements competence training for EL Authorization B is for those who want to achieve the necessary competence and competence to perform electrical installation work on low-voltage installations. The training covers the knowledge and skills requirements set out in Appendix 3 of the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority's regulations ELSÄK-FS 2017:4.
What does an electrical contractor do?
As an installation electrician, you may work on new builds and refurbishments in various work areas, but you may also work as a service electrician. This means you'll work on troubleshooting and repairing electrical installations and supplementary installations, such as setting up electrical panels, wiring and installing switches and sockets.
Target group:
Persons seeking limited authorization (B) . The course is aimed at technicians and persons with
basic knowledge of electrical engineering, such as plumbers, maintenance staff, service technicians, caretakers or for those who repair or install in the field of plumbing, refrigeration, machinery or telecommunications systems.
How does the training for Electricity Authorization B work?
- E-learning: The theory is completed online via our e-learning platform. The modules cover everything from basic electricity theory to specific rules and standards for working with low-voltage installations. The digital platform allows you to study at your own pace, providing maximum flexibility. You can pause and resume the course at your convenience
- Practical training included in the training: To ensure you get the practical experience required, one day of practical training is included on site. During this day, you will put theory into practice, under the guidance of experienced instructors. The practical part prepares you for the practical requirements to obtain the authorization. Only one mandatory practical day is included in the distance learning course for the Authorization B, formerly known as the Limited Authorization.

Objectives of the course:
Upon completion of the course, participants shall:
- Have a solid knowledge of practical electrical theory and electrical power engineering, with a focus on DC and AC circuits.
- Be able to carry out electrical installation work in accordance with the requirements for limited authorization (B).
- Understand the functions of protective devices, protective earth and electrical systems (TN-C, TN-S, TT, IT).
- Be able to perform basic installations, read electrical diagrams and apply relevant standards.
- Be able to measure electrical quantities and perform safety checks before commissioning
Requirements and Practical Experience
In order to meet the practical experience requirement for a B authorization, you should have worked in electricity for at least two years. Please note that:
- You must have worked for at least 1 year in an electrical installation company doing electrical installation work on low-voltage installations or limited work on low-voltage installations (mandatory).
- You have the opportunity to partially (up to a maximum of 1 year) credit other work with electricity. The work must cover one of the knowledge areas in Annex 1, 2 or 3 of the authorization regulations (ELSÄK-FS 2017:4).
Standard
The training covers the knowledge and skills requirements set out in Appendix 3 of the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority's regulations ELSÄK-FS 2017:4.
Work carried out in another EEA country
If you have a Swedish qualification, you can gain all your practical experience in another EEA country or in Switzerland and still be eligible to apply for authorization in Sweden. However, if you have a qualification from another EEA country or Switzerland, you must gain at least half of your practical experience in Sweden. For companies operating abroad, this means that work done outside Sweden can also be counted when an employee applies for authorization.

Other electrical work
It is not only electrical installation work that can be credited as practical experience. Applicants for authorization may partially credit other work
with electricity that is covered by one of the knowledge areas in Appendix 1 or 2 to ELSÄKFS 2017:4. Examples of such work can be design, dimensioning,
troubleshooting or inspection of high-voltage or low-voltage installations or equipment connected to them. This means that even companies that do not perform electrical installation work may
need to certify practical experience if they are working on any of the included
