What does the law say about the construction work environment coordinator?
Anyone who hires someone to carry out construction or civil engineering work must be able to prove the qualifications according to the first paragraph for the construction work environment coordinator who has been appointed, as well as for the personnel that the coordinator intends to use in the coordination work. The same rules apply if the person who hires someone to carry out construction or civil engineering work appoints himself as the construction work environment coordinator. The construction work environment coordinator may, among the persons at his disposal, only use those who have qualifications according to the first paragraph in the coordination work. (AFS 2008:16)
Who is the BAS P & BAS U training aimed at?
The BAS P & BAS U online training is primarily aimed at people who aspire to become a construction work environment coordinator. The BAS-P / BAS-U training is intended for people who plan, design or manage projects in the construction and civil engineering industry. The training covers, among other things, regulations, risk assessment, protective measures and safety planning. Furthermore, the training is for those who carry out work on construction and civil engineering sites, and focuses on practical skills such as the use of personal protective equipment and the handling of hazardous substances.
When a contractor is hired, it is important to begin work with a work environment plan that is then handed over to the contractor for implementation. The contractor takes over the work environment plan that has been started and supplements it with risks that they are aware of. It is the responsibility of the construction work environment coordinator to coordinate work environment efforts to prevent risks of ill health and accidents. BAS-P is responsible for drawing up the work environment plan while BAS-U ensures that it is kept up to date.

Section 6 The construction work environment coordinator shall be either a legal person who has persons who have the training, competence and experience necessary to be able to perform the tasks incumbent on a construction work environment coordinator according to the Work Environment Act and these regulations, or a natural person who himself has, or has persons who have, the training, competence and experience necessary to be able to perform the tasks incumbent on a construction work environment coordinator according to the Work Environment Act and these regulations.
Section 11 The construction work environment coordinator shall participate in the planning and management of the design. He shall coordinate the planning and design with regard to the work environment, so that those involved in the planning and design take into account each other’s plans and solutions. This shall be done in the manner necessary to prevent risks of ill health and accidents during the execution of the construction or civil engineering work. The coordination shall also ensure that the execution of different parts of the project and of structures, installations and the like do not coincide in time and space during the construction phase in such a way that a risk of ill health or accidents arises. (AFS 2008:16)
